Re: Where do we put rants?

Probably right here. After all, a rant is just someone's opinion about something.

Online Metronome w/ Drum Sounds?

I figured one of you would have a link to an online metronome site, which features "real" sounding drum beats for the metronome. Like the sounds a Casio or Yamaha keyboard would have. If you have a link, I would appreciate it!

Re: What Bands Have Grown On You With Age?

+1 for Bob Seger. He was always on the radio when I was growing up, but I never thought much about him. Recently, I have come to appreciate his talents much more. Bruce Springsteen. I grew up in New Jersey and Bruce was the Boss there long before he was an international star. His music was ALWAYS on...

Re: Favourite Movies about musicians and Bands

Crossroads - terrible plot & acting, but the blues music in it was outstanding. Ry Cooder did most of the guitar work and a young Steve Vai appeared in it. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0QKbnCDW94 David Gilmour - Remember That Night - it is an OUTSTANDING concert, shot in Royal Alber...

Re: Recommendations for Small Combo Amp (5W & under)

I will keep the Valve Jr. in mind. Not sure though, it may be too loud. I would prefer not to need an attenuator.

I ran across this online - anyone have any comments on it?

Recommendations for Small Combo Amp (5W & under)

I am looking for an amp for my office at work. Yes, I am lucky enough to have the luxury of playing a guitar in my office, during slow times. :D So, I have been looking around for a SMALL combo amp. I am looking for some suggestions. Here are some of the things I am looking for: 1. Prefer 100% tube ...

Re: The Rosetta Stone of Guitar

Sounds like something I might have to look into. But I do find it funny though that so many new posters somehow decided to post responses on this particular topic..Coincidence? Nope, not a coincidence. I know why there are so many first time posters. I got a mass email from the author the other day...

I agree with Nick. I would discuss it with someone who can help you understand what is causing it to happen.

Re: The Rosetta Stone of Guitar

woo-hooo! Good for you. I was afraid it sounded too good to be true and no one would believe me. It did seem a little "too good to be true." Kind of like those, learn 120 chords in an hour deals. But, this isn't like that. I see there is a good deal of work to be done to master this stuff, but the ...

Re: The Rosetta Stone of Guitar

Nick - As you can see from my last post (about 3 hours ago), I was wondering how to best use the materials and how all this worked. I was a little leary after browsing through the pages of the book - it seemed really confusing at first look. Since then, I read pdf pages 4-10 and had my guitar handy ...

Re: The Rosetta Stone of Guitar

Okay, I figured what the heck and purchased the DVD/book. I figured, for $30, if I learned anything it would be worth the cash. I got the DVD today in the mail, which was pretty fast - way to go Fred. I cruised around the offerings on the DVD, and I am confused. There are videos, audio, quizzes, a p...

Re: Keys and Positions

I never relearned songs in all keys, although the exercise probably wouldn't hurt. Yes, you are right that transposing is merely a matter of moving up and down the fretboard a certain number of keys, which in many ways makes it more simple than say a piano. But, some guitarists get lost if they try ...

GAS Relief!

I have been thinking about getting a cheap, retro guitar for some time now. Something that brings back the feeling & vibe of the 50s or 60s, surf music, etc. At first I was going to try and find a Danelectro DC 59. But they aren't in production anymore (they were reissued last year but are now all g...
