Re: Help with Key of my voice

NoteBoat, thank you for your thoughtful reply and help. This was a real eye opener, and sitting down at the piano and working through a couple examples it really made a lot of sense. Can you suggest how to increase my range a few notes to the upside? I do have the opportunity to sing a lot and am wi...

Help with Key of my voice

Can someone help me with this: using my Piano as a test, I am comfortable singing from the G note (lower than middle C) through middle C all the way up to the next G after middle C. Now, I can get a tad higher without being squeeky, and also maybe a note or so lower in a pinch (or singing a Johnny C...

Re: RIP Davy Jones

Wow... really young to pass. I still listen to them ocassionally, there is a great bluegrass version of "Take the Last Train to Clarksville" by the Grascals in case you have not seen this:

They even mention the Monkee's in the video.

Re: George Harrison: Living in the Material World - trailer

I watched this 2 part documentary last week, wasn't really that impressed - actually found it a little slow paced and at some points boring. When Eric Clapton talked, that was great.

Anyone have a different opinion?

Re: Back from Nashville after a week with Chet

Was just a terrific trip. Also as a side note, the hotel sold Starbucks for only a buck a cup (about 16 oz cup), so for us coffee drinkers that was a nice perk (even though I don't like coffee that stron).....:) Hope you enjoyed our fair city. Everyone is welcome to come spend tourist dollars and th...

Back from Nashville after a week with Chet

Just thought I would post that I just got back last week from Nashville after attending the 4 day "Chet Atkins Appreciation Society." Needless to say, I will be going again next year. This is a non-profit group and remembers what Chet did for guitar music (Chet passed away 10 years ago). This was th...

Re: Nashville suggestions

Thank you my friend, those sound like some great suggestions. I will get my mapquest ready so I can find some of these places.

I had totally forgot about Earnest Tubb's record shop and Gruhn Guitars, looking forward to those as well.

Nashville suggestions

I think there is a number of Nashville people who hang out here, so maybe you can give me some advice. I am going to the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society national convention next week, so will be in Nashville for a week - from July 11 to July 18, 2011. The convention is four full days. Also curious,...

Re: Glen Cambell sick - Alzheimer's

My heart goes out to him as well, they say its as hard on the family than the individual. I was touched when I read that Glen was forgetting chords, etc. Just hard to believe.

But, lots of great memories with his music for sure.
