Re: Hi, I'm astounded

I think the worst is over for me, and I started back up again on about the 2nd, so that's a week and a half playing 30 to 60 minutes a day on average. Still hurts some but not nearly as bad as the first week. Hope it's getting better for you too, Essie!

Re: Hi all

Hi David, I hear you - I'm 50 as well and am also coming back to guitar after letting it sit for several years. I have trouble fretting and strumming well at the same time, and if I try to sing too - well, then it REALLY gets messed up! :D But it's getting a little better each day. I'm trying to be ...

Re: Hi, I'm astounded

LOL, I'm waiting for that to happen too. I lost my calluses when I had to stop playing due to tendinitis so I have to build them up again. I can't remember how long it took the first time, probably a few weeks? Argh, I know that seems like a long time but it will probably be getting less painful lit...

I'm a guitar prodigal

Hey, everyone! I joined this forum around 10 years ago when I got my first guitar but didn't post much and haven't been back for a long time. I let my guitar gather dust for the most part over the intervening years, but I've picked it back up recently (actually sold the first one and got a bit bette...

Re: First song - thoughts appreciated!

Thanks, Renee. I put the old verse in my "scraps of songs" file.

Thank you, Ezra, for your input! I agree, I need LOTS of practice. :-) I wish I had started when I was younger, but better late than never! I appreciate your kind words.

Re: I got to play by a camp fire

Wow, gorgeous pics! One of my goals is to eventually play around a campfire too. We live in a town on the south shore of Lake Superior so we have plenty of chances. Thanks for posting!

Re: First song - thoughts appreciated!

I've been thinking about that verse and came up with this, sticking to one metaphor throughout.

It's not like we had sunshine always
There were umbrella years
When all we felt was inside out
No shelter from the tears

Re: First song - thoughts appreciated!

That is some solid feedback, thank you. You are right about the metaphors for sure, hadn't thought about that, but now that you say it, it is a bit much. Definitely going to give that some thought.

I really appreciate your taking the time to give input, so grateful to both of you! :)

Re: First song - thoughts appreciated!

Wow, that is really nice of you to say. Thanks so much for the feedback!

I don't have any goals other than to play and sing for my own enjoyment and (hopefully) that of family and friends. I'm not destined for greatness but I'm fine with that. :-)

Thanks again!

Re: Honest opinions please....

Not bad at all - my first impression is that it would be better if you really felt the lyrics and put emotion into it because it was kind of like you were singing the syllables but not feeling the words, know what I mean? But your voice is fairly good!

Re: Can you please crit my singing?

I think you have a good voice, a very pleasant tone to listen to. It's overpowered by the guitar somewhat, though, so it's hard to judge more than that. Good work!

First song - thoughts appreciated!

Hi guys - well, it's a bit embarrassing posting this since I am so new and it won't sound one-tenth as good as most of the stuff on here, but hey, I've gotta start somewhere. I'd like to hear what you have to say about my first original song. Wrote it for my hubby and finally played it for him a few...
